:)

I am blogging twice today.
Because something wonderful happened.
My mood is currently happy :))

I have been having a rough couple of weeks.
A.LOT. has been going on...
Been kinda of moody.
I get stressed easily and lately I've been letting the stress win.

My lost optimism was found today!
I had a great day at work. {it even included a shoot}
I found a new blog to read.
I'm going to the movies with my Stacyface tonight!
And my overall outlook for the future feels good.

Welcome back optimism, it was weird without you!
{seriously I'm the girl that will continuing cheering for her losing team until it says "final" next to the score...and my team is the Texans so we all know how often I cheer on a losing team. Love you Texans!}

Don't let the title of my blog fool you.
I'm a very optimistic person.
I'm only cynical in the 'love' arena..
sometimes.
it helps that it's almost the weekend too!

that is all!
have a great day :))

30 Truths--Day Four

Day Four--
Something you have to forgive someone for.

Ok.
Seriously.
These are a little heavy.
I think I am going to make a judgement call and change the topic.
(and just for the record there isn't anyone I need to forgive)

HMMM
So I need a truth to tell you guys.
HMMM

So with the help of Google I think I came up with a "fun" truth to tell.

What are your favorite smells?
  • My grandma Carrie passed away when I was 13. I have a box of some of her things (scarf, necklaces, etc.).I have what I think is an old pill case of hers but she kept perfume in it. It's been more than ten years and it still smells like her. It's one of my favorite things I have. And it brings back so so many memories I had with her.
  • I love the smell right before it rains. And of course the smell of rain.
  • The laundry isle at the grocery store.
  • My dad's office building.
  • When someone is cooking with truffle oil or garlic!

What are your favorite smells??
What memories do they remind you of?

30 Truths--Day Three

Day Three-
Something you have to forgive yourself for

Is it just me or are all these pretty heavy questions so far.
I'll be honest I only really skimmed the questions before deciding to do this.
Non-the-less I'll keep answering them...for now!

I guess I need to "forgive" myself for not making the most out of college.
Sometimes I wish I could go back and redo it as the person I am today.
I was much more shy and reserved at 18.
Oh and I had never been away from home.
Sheltered much?
We referred to the city I grew up in as "the Bubble" because nothing really ever bad happened.
And the majority of the people were rich and privileged.
So I was a little on the naive side when I went to college.

Don't get me wrong, I loved parts of college.
I have a TON of wonderful memories I wouldn't trade for anything.
I don't think I could have had a better roommate!
Shout out to Kendra :)
But I do wish I had participated more.

Kendra and me freshman year!
We did this stuff all the time.
We are SOBER!
Promise!

DID I mention that Kendra and I are having a reunion of EPIC proportions in July?!?!
Can I tell how awesome that post will be!
Stay tuned!

Sorry that was juicer friends...
I wrote a post before about not liking regret so I don't really ever have things I need to forgive myself for.
It would have been much better if I was drunk and got a weird tattoo.
Sorry to disappoint!

30 Truths--Day Two

Day Two:
Something you love about yourself.

Hmmm.
This is harder than the what I hate about myself question.

I like that I'm not confrontational.
The reason I picked this is because there used to be a time when I avoided it at all costs even if that meant I got hurt in the process.
I have refined this trait. I have a line that if crossed I will stand up for myself.
That being said it takes a lot for someone to cross that line.

I have learned throughout the years there are things worth fighting for and things that aren't.
I look back on arguements I've had with friends, family, exes, etc and the majority are over stupid, petty things that don't merit an argument.
I'm also I big believer in just being honest and talking, not arguing, over things.
This also means being the bigger person sometimes and letting things roll off your back.
I don't have thick skin.
Words hurt.
But if it's not worth the fight I'll deal with it.

I don't think I let people walk all over me at all.
I have stood up for myself when the time called for it.
I just think some things aren't worth a fight.

**This also goes hand-in-hand with being really understanding that people are human and they are bound to make mistakes and forgiving them in their worst hour speaks volumes of your character.
I know that I have made mistakes and the willingness of people to forgive me is a beautiful trait to have.
It's not always easy but if a friendship or any kind of relationship means something forgiveness is a good thing to be able to do.

(wow, that was kind of heavy)

So you wanna know the Hawaii countdown?? I know you do!
24 days peoples!
I know I'm excited!

This is the resort I am staying at :))

Day One:
Something you hate about yourself!

I have to say that since graduating college I have become more comfortable in my skin and more confident with who I am. So I wouldn't say I hate anything about myself but there are some things I could work on.

Appearance--I want to be more consistent with my workouts. I've been a little lazy lately. And sometimes I think my nose is pointy.
(but really who doesn't have issues with their nose!)
Personality--I want to be less indecisive. I tend to be a people pleaser. I want to let go of some of the insecurities I do have. Mostly I want to let go of the not feeling good enough sometimes. Unfortnately this is a souvenir of be cheated on in past relationships.
Habits--I want to stop biting my nails, not have so much road rage, and cut out the cursing!

Ok guys! Join in! Comment away!
Ok really..don't leave me hanging! No one likes to talk about what they don't like about themselves and then here crickets! ha!

Scenes from the weekend...

Can I do a post on scenes from the weekend if I don't have scenes to show you? I am seriously getting lazy with my camera. I take it with me everywhere but it never makes an appearance. Seriously the only pictures I took this weekend was of food and that's because my SIL reminded me to. So I guess I need to rename the post bullets from the weekend...because basically that's what I am going to do.
  • Drove to Dallas Friday after work! Made it in 4 hrs!
  • Met up with Maverick for dinner. Originally we were going to go to this pizza place that sounded really good but the wait was long so we left and got some Mexican food (which is always good!) So at the pizza place Maverick valeted his car, upon hearing the wait time I said I was really hungry so we left and the valet people weren't even done parking it yet...I felt horrible!
  • After dinner we went and watched a movie and since it was Friday the 13th we watched Seven. Great movie!
  • Saturday Maverick and my brother played golf while my SIL and I worked out. We walked by the prettiest lake ever! And the weather was perfect! No humidity!
  • SIL and I got brunch! And we didn't just eat...we destroyed brunch! We both got brunch and afterwards we still hungry so we ordered an appetizer! Oh and we drank a pitcher of white sangria!
  • SIL and I then went shopping and found some cute things and then we got a Starbucks!
  • Met back up with the boys for dinner at an AWESOME Italian restaurant! Their garlic rolls were fan-freaking-tastic!
  • Maverick and I met up with some of his friends at a dueling piano bar. My first time going to one. It was really fun!
  • Sunday I wasn't feeling that great (understatement of the century!). We were orginally going to do brunch but we missed it. I think that was my first time in Dallas without getting brunch!
  • Went to Jakes with Maverick for a burger after I was feeling better!
  • Then I had to leave :(  drive back only took 3 and half hours this time.

Overall  it was a great weekend! Shout out to Maverick, brother, and SIL for making it a great weekend! Thanks guys!
This Houston girl will admit that Dallas is growing on me! :))
I'll give credit where credit is due.
Their weather is hands down better than Houston's.
BUT the Cowboys are in Dallas...and I don't like the Cowboys. (another huge understatement)

I really needed this weekend to help take my mind off some stuff that's going on. It really helped. I think this was the first time I was able to fully relax in a month! Hopefully I will be able to relax in Hawaii too!
I'm just ready for situations to get resolved. I've been emotionally exhausted for a month and I'm tired of carring this weight around esp when I can 't really talk about it...

D-Town

I get a rush of excitement every Friday morning because I know the weekend is only a few short hours away!
It reminds me of how Lucy gets when she greets me when I get home after work! She acts like I was gone for days and it was really only hours {or in some cases minutes}. But she is always so so excited!
{**speaking of Lucy she totally killed a mouse yesterday. gross.}

That's me and Fridays!
It's been days since we hung out Friday, let's do it again!

I am leaving in about an hour to drive to Dallas :)

{I'm not really excited about the drive but the trip very much so}
I do have my itouch and Special K Crackers {they are delish! esp if you're watching your weight} for my ride up there! Hopefully there won't be any Houston traffic and I can get there fairly quick.

It's going to be a pretty chill weekend but none-the-less I am excited.
I need to get away for a couple of days and relax!

this is not Dallas {obvi} but it's pretty to look at :)
