Funkyness and lists

It's no secret to those close to me that I have been in somewhat of a funky mood lately...(we all go through it) I can't explain the funk. Nothing specific happened to make me funky. (and i don't consider hormones specific!)
I even think the great cosmos have picked up on my funkyness; this was my horoscope this morning:  "In an effort to maintain peace and keep everything on an even keel you've neglected your desires for the sake of pleasing someone else. Making compromises for others can be noble, but it may never get you exactly what you want. This is time to be more agressive in your pursuit of love."

I am the Queen of compromise! And I do tend to put others first before me thus neglecting my wants sometimes. I'm a people pleaser, most of the time.

So I decided that I want to turn around the funk and make a "bucket list" for the things I want. This is more of a 'things to do in a year' instead of before I die kind of list. (SHOCKINGY! another post with a list in it. I did say that I make lists  A LOT!)  I was inspired by Molly at Stilettos and Diapers. She has a 101 in 1001 list, which is do 101 things in 1001 days.

Happy Monday Y'all!

Happy Monday everyone! Hope your weekend was relaxing and fun!

This week I'm starting a new tradition. I'm going to make a goal each week and try and fulfill it!
This week's goal: I'm going to try not to drink any cokes!

I've noticed that my caffeine addiction started up again! I was doing so good for like 6 months!
Sadly I fell off the wagon. :(
I was getting caffeine headaches during that day. NOT GOOD!
The other reason I need to watch my caffeine intake is because I have tachycardia. Which means my resting heartrate is naturally higher than normal. Too much caffeine makes my heart race and then I start to get palpitations! So caffeine and Ashley don't mix too well!

This weekend was pretty uneventful. Although I was reading Little Black Book of Style by Nina Garcia (a judge on Project Runway and editor of Elle magazine) and I was inspired to clean out my closet and make new outfits! I have four new outfits planned for this week so I'm excited! I'll try and take pictures and post them this week!

I started reading this kind of love last week. Jaime's blog is too cute! She posts these dresses she is 'lovin' and I'm obsessed with the website she gets them from. Check out ModCloth! They have super cute dresses and clothes! I can't wait to buy some!

My sister J, me and my sister-in-law H!

Have a great week :)

Boy Wishlist

I've been reading a lot of ladies blogs lately that write about their boy criteria. Their "wish lists" for boys.
This got me thinking about some of the things I hope to find in a boy!
So here's a few things I've come up with.

  • Sense of humor-he's got to make me laugh!
  • A willingness to try new things-whether it be food or activity or location
  • A close relationship to his family-I am very close to mine
  • Boy's got to be TALL-it's weird because I'm so short but I like them tall
  • He's got to be a spooner-I like cuddling
  • A little PDA-handholding, kisses, hugs all fun; NO mounting in public or making out...that's too much ha
  • He has to have good friends-my 1st exs friends were, I'll just say it, horrible. I never told him to pick me over them but I did tell him I wouldn't go out with him if his friends were going. And just to prove I'm not being a nagging gf. His friends used to talk about the "next time he was single" in front of me...ummm not cool!
  • Someone who will be a dork with me :) i embrace the dorkyness
  • Non-smoker-I don't mind if you do but honestly the smell makes me sick sooo "Just Say No"
  • He has to love music
  • Please no liars-i have no tolerance, this is a deal breaker!
  • And so is cheating- I don't think my heart can tolerate another cheater

This is what I have so far...it doesn't seem that picky, right??

Happy Friday everyone and hears being hopeful I find a guy that fits my list!

enfermo

I'm sick today. :(

I lost my voice and every time I cough I sound like someone who's been smoking for 40 years.
Not pretty.

I don't want to leave work because I'm still new and I don't want to make a bad impression.

What I REALLY want is:
  • tortilla soup from Whole Foods
  • my p-jayjays
  • my DVR so I can watch Bethenny Ever After
  • my head and/or my back scratched
  • my bed
  • and a vanilla milkshake from Whataburger

I don't do sick well. I over-react a teensy bit. Teensy bit. I act like the world's ending when I have a sore throat.

I'm trying to make it till lunch and then we'll see. My boss is in Chicago on a shoot so I don't have much to do today, so it wouldn't be the end of the world if I went home.

Serious Problem

I have a serious, serious problem. I can't stop it. And it always gets me in trouble.

I'm a drunk texter.

Last night I went out with new work friends and we were having a blast.
Then I started getting this feeling. I reach for my phone but I resist...this time.
The later it gets the harder it is to resist.
And these are new friends so they don't know to take my phone away like my besties do.

And then it happens...I send a text, usually to a person who I shouldn't be texting, especially if some alcohol has been consumed.

The reason why drunk texting is such an issue is because I send unfiltered texts. And its usually things I wouldn't say or text sober. So it gets me in trouble occasionally. They're not mean or rude texts. It's usually just things that I have the common sense not to say sober.

** to my knowledge none have been on Texts from last night but I wouldn't be surprised if it happens.

The next morning is the worst because I look through my phone and see what I sent to which people and instantly feel regret.

My inner dialogue usually goes like this:

"Really?? Really, Ashley, did you need to send that?? Oh God!" all being said while goaning

Next comes the apology texts.
I think I have a draft saved in my phone and now I just fill out a name.

Hey_______, Sorry about those texts. I was a little knoxed. I should know better by now. Haha.

So I have a serious, serious problem.

Wild West

Saturday night my best friend Stacy and I went to Wild West in Houston and it was quite the experience...

We were both suppose to meet each other there at 9:00pm, Stacy was running 20 mins late (or so she said ) I arrive at 9:20 and call Stacy to see where she is. She's 15 minutes away. I love Stacy to death but her perception of time is a teensy bit off. :)

So I wait another 15 minutes and then call Stacy back....straight to voicemail.  I get a text a few minutes later, she got pulled over! Another 20 minutes pass and she calls me and she's two minutes away. FINALLY!  This whole time I'm chilling in my car with a "drug dealer" roaming the parking lot and me trying to avoid eye contact when he passes by my car!

(Side note, I know it's called Wild West but I swear every damn car in that parking lot is a pick-up truck!)

Stacy finally gets here and we head in! Only to almost get in a fight with a bitchy bridesmaid from a bacheorlette party. She called us out for not standing in line correctly..wtf. Who does that? The takes approximately 2 seconds to get in. Wait your turn!

Wild West plays country music for 45 minutes and then it switches and play "main stream" music for 15 minutes. Stacy loves the country and I love the main stream. So for 45 mins Stacy is "teaching" me to two-step in 4 inch heels (I was the only effing girl with heels on, I stood out a little bit :) ) I'm not the most coordinating person and it's quite funny to watch us. She has a beer in her hand and I have a citron/sprite in mine and I'm "two-stepping" backwards trying not to run into the professional country dancers which are all over the dance floor. It was more like driving in heavy traffic then it was dancing. I was concentrating more on not running into people than I was on my newly-learned dance skills. As awkward as Stacy and I probably looked we were having a blast.

Main stream music comes on and I'm a happy girl. There aren't instructions on how to dance to Lady Gaga or Black Eyed Peas and this is why I like dancing to mainstream music! The most coordinated I get is to the Cupid Shuffle and that's because it tells you what to do! Stacy and I were having a mini dance off on the dance floor! I was doing the running man or the sprinkler or the shopping cart and Stacy was doing the swimmer or the running man (she copied me) ! Basically we were have a white girl dance off! The cupid schuffle did play and I screamed in excitement! I abandoned my almost full drink to dance to this song! I made Stacy chugged her beer. After the cupid schuffle a new country style shuffle came on. It was callled the cobra tangle or something country-like. I fell in love with this song. It involves stomping on the floor which is awesome and loud and a little reminscent of The  Lord of the Dance!!

Saturday was a girl's night. Stacy's boyfriend stayed at home and, well I don't have one but I made her promise me that we wouldn't dance with any guys. Here's the deal with Wild West, the cute boys never ask you to dance, it's a fact! Every middle age creeper there asks you to dance and then proceeds to ask you inapproiate questions while you count down the seconds till you can get away. So for the most part it's best not to dance at Wild West when men ask you! Stacy and I did a good job at looking not available to dance. We stood away from the dance floor if we weren't dancing or we danced with each other. I kid you not, Stacy turns to ask a couple behind us a question, leaving me alone for just a few second and 2.2 seconds later a MIDDLE-AGED  Middle-Eastern man asked me to dance. Really? I don't understand why older men hit on girls that are wayyyy too young for them to talk to. It freaks me out. I hate creepers. Ironically these men also wait in the dark corners and come out of no where to ask you to dance. It's like a sneak-attack. They figure if they catch you off guard you'll say yes before you have time to come up with a real excuse.
I politely refused his offer because I was resting my feet. Honestly if a cute guy asked I would've said the same thing. I was regretting wearing my 4 inch heels at this point. I turned and grabbed Stacy and told her she was not allowed to leave my side again for the rest of the night.

We had a great time and it's always interesting going to Wild West. It's one of those places where you always leave with a crazy story!
