I decided that today I am going to interview my best friend Stacy for my blog! Stacy and I have been best friends for two years now and I love this girl so much!! She's beautiful and she has such a big heart and a great sense of humor and we ALWAYS have the best time together! She is my peapod (i give my friends weird nicknames) for a reason, we are very similar!

She everyone this is Stacy!

me and Stacy @ my 23rd b-day

Me: What is your favorite memory of us?
Stacy: Hmmm our snow day!! (we had a snow day two Decembers ago and we had so  much fun BUTTTT Stacy ended the fun when she went to work! We will work on your calling in sick strategy)

Me: What is your dream job?
Stacy: Owner of the Cowboys (ughhhhh), Texans or Astros! (I will forgive her for the cowboys comment)

Me: If you had to pick one movie to watch forever what would it be??
Stacy: Grease! (good choice!)

Me: What's your biggest pet peeve with me?
Stacy: That you always hide my cigarettes! (I do this a lot! I'm just watching out for your lungs)

Me: If you could travel anywhere where would it be??
Stacy: Austrailia

Me: What super hero power would you want to have?
Stacy: Mind reader!

Me: Tell me 5 random facts about you?
Stacy: I love the zoo! I'm a hopeless romantic (me too) I hate liars! I love spa days!! I secretly want another tattoo ( i knew it!)

Thursday means it's almost Friday!

Today is Thursday a.ka. the day before Friday how excited are we all????  Did I mention that I have a date this weekend?? You can now understand my excitement!

I just got back from a THREE hour lunch meeting! And you know what I did....I sat. And I listened. Seeing as this was my first ever lunch business meeting I did not need to stick my foot in my mouth and say something absurd so I observed. And chimed in when neccessary! However towards the end of said meeting the topic came to politics...I thanked the Lord that I had been quiet pretty much the whole meeting because if I hadn't it would have been obvious how much I dislike talking about politics with people. I think this is stupid. Even if you actually agree. People get very defensive if you happen to have an opinion different from theirs. I learned this back in high school when a kid in my Spanish 3 class tried to persuade me to "his" view. "Kid...it's not going to happen so shut up and pay attention to the conjugated verbs on the board!!"

People it's called an opinion!! Everyone is allowed to have one and I am not stupid, naive, or uneducated just because I don't agree with yours. In politics it's simple, if there's a Republican in office Americans dislike Republicans, if there's a Democrat in office Americans dislike Democrats....see where I'm going with this.??

I have my opinion on certain political subjects and rarely do I talk about them with other people. When I do it's usually with people that understand that I have an opinion and it might not be the same. We end up having what's called a discussion. Not an argument or a pissing contest.

I am glad I was reserved in my lunch meeting because I did happen to disagree with some of their opinions BUT I sure wasn't going to tell them they were wrong! Haha I have to work with these people for the next couple of months! I'm not stupid! Keep my personal opinions to myself!

This post is a little soapbox-ish! Did I mention my date?? Haha!

I think I'm going to end all my posts with a song!
So happy Thursday everyone check out:

Not in Love-Olin and the Moon

I really like this band! I can't wait to listen to more of their music!

Miercoles..ole!

Like how I spiced up my title by using spanish instead of english??? I'm getting crazy over here peoples!

A lovely thing happened today, I got a Starbucks gift card for my adminstrative assistant duties. I might have confused some of you because I am actually a producer..so why might you ask would I get rewarded for being receptionist?? Because part of my job is to answer the phone when the receptionist is at lunch/breaks/vacations. I do this job with a smile on my face and often get complimented on my attitude for doing the job so little people want to do. (I don't tell them that I complain inncessantly to friends and family about sitting at the front...) WELLLLLL it pays to have a good attitude especially when you might be doing something less than desired. I was rewarded with a Starbucks gift card!!!

I got a little side-tracked...it's Wednesday so let's do the usual!

What I'm Loving Wednesdays! Or should I say...Lo que estoy amando Miercoles!

{1}
Obviously I am loving my starbucks gift card!! I've been on a budget so I haven't had my skinny caramel macchiatos in a while, so I'm pretty excited :))))    <--- see how many smiles I added!

{2}
I'm hating  LOVING my workout that I have scheduled for after work! Let's face it, exercise and I have a love/hate relationship. I love it before and after BUT during I want to cry! Occassionally I love it through the whole process; before, during, and after! But honestly whenever I do cardio and legs I want to run away. (and when I say run away I mean walk away because I hate all forms of cardio)

{3}
I'm loving that my jeans are getting big on me! (this is the real reason I love my workouts) They aren't gross baggy on me (when that happens I will be buying new jeans, duh!) but they are getting a little more roomie!

{4}
I am loving last night's episode of One Tree Hill. Two reasons: one the show is amazing  AND two I found a new band!! Olin and the Moon!

{5}
I am loving the 2 dresses I got at Forever 21! They will be making an appearance this weekend! (and in Hawaii!)

{6}
Lastly I am loving my music! I went through some of my older music the other day and rekindle my love with Dashboard Confessional (i know there are haters out there but I will always love them) So I will leave you with a song my bloggy friends...

Hands Down-Dashboard Confessional

"Music is my time machine"

Comfort food. Everyone has one or two they always turn to. For me it's mac and cheese. Or ice cream. Or milk shakes....ok...yeah so I have a few.

The other day it occured to me that I have comfort music as well. Music that I always listen to to feel better! I LOVE music, it's no secret. New music is like candy for me!! Can't get enough!
BUT
I always go back to my comfort music.

The "Move Along" album from the All American Rejects take me back to freshman and sophomore year of college.
Jimmy Eat World and Straylight Run is 12th grade study hall!
"Far More" by The Honorary Title and "When the World Comes Down" The All American Rejects  is riding the bus to campus senior year of college.
Jack's Mannequin is driving from San Marcos to Sugar Land or vice versa.
"Don't Stop Believing" by Journey is all my trips to 6th street in Austin and every wedding I've been to in the last four years.
The Beatles and Michael Buble are all my trips to Dallas with my sister riding shotgun.
Tik Tok by Ke$ha (forgive me for this one) will always remind me of my Stacyface!
Celine Dion and Hilary Duff (forgive me for this one too) will always remind me of my Stork aka Kendra!

I will forever associate music that way. If I hear any of these songs no matter how overplayed they may be I will always smile and listen to them.

Eminem was pretty smart when he said  "music is my time machine" (Cinderella Man)  because it is!

Share your music with me peoples!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday Everyone! Or Hump Day, whichever you prefer! :)

{1} I am loving my workouts lately! I have a session with my trainer tonight! Don't get me wrong, I have muscles that I never knew I had hurting BUT when I'm in Hawaii in two months I won't regret it! Not to mention that once I get in the swings of things I like working out, I almost crave it!

{2} I am loving the book I'm reading;  True Blue -David Baldacchi. Exciting crime/drama/mysteries are a fav of mine! I think it's because I secretly wish I could go out there and kick some bad-guy ass too! And I know you have all thought that too!

{3} I am loving that Water for Elephants comes out in TWO days! And yes I am mentioning that movie/book again! Take the hint and go read it! Or wait TWO days and go watch it :)

{4} I am loving happy hour because really...who doesn't love happy hour :))

{5} I am loving Barnes and Noble. I could spend hours upon hours in the place! As much as I want a Nook, I love going to B&N and looking around at all the goodies! I went on my lunch break on Monday and found an Audrey Hepburn book ( I now have 5 books about her, obsessed much?) and an awesome Italian cookbook (I'm pretty sure I have like 50 of these! I'm Scots/Irish but I swear part of me has to be Italian!)

{6} I'm going to cheese it up a bit but I am really loving my family :) We are all so close and it's hard to find that sometimes. I appreciate/love/respect/look up to all of them!

I'd like a one-way ticket please!

You all know the Southwest Airline commercials??  With the super super awkward situations followed by "Wanna Get Away"....yeah well I do! I want to get away! Sign me up! My bags are packed! Let's go!

It has been non-stop since December! I've had a lot on my plate! Work, friends, family, Lucy, bills, etc., etc.....

I get stressed really easily! And for the most part I deal with it in a very healthy manner; I hold it in! I might look calm, cool, collected on the outside but on the inside I'm flipping-the-shit out!

Stress during college-piece of cake! Stress during sports-easy peesy! Stress with being an "adult"-I DON'T LIKE IT!!!!

Don't get me wrong I'm glad being an adult, the perks are awesome! But I'm still getting acclimated to allllllllllllllll the responsibilities!
For example: I pay most bills online, I hardly ever write checks anymore. So when I ran out of checks last month there wasn't exactly a fire under my ass to order more. Then April 15th rolled around! Hey Ashley you kinda need checks to pay your taxes! Bring on the penalties!

All together now: Yay responsibilities!

Lesson learned though, I'm pretty sure I will NEVER run out of checks again!

But what I really want is to get away. Just for a few days. I'll come back I promise!
I have Hawaii in two months and I am way excited about that trip. But I don't know I can last till then!

So in the very near future I could/will be running away visiting Austin, Dallas, San Marcos, shoot I'll hit up Galveston if I have to! Who's with me??!

anticipation

I hate being bored.
To remedy this, I like to plan, even if it's last minute!
I like looking forward to things. Building the anticipation for events and what not is half the fun!
I mean seriously my birthday is in October and I'm already planning it!

Currently I am anticipating quite a few things (big and small). And I know you all want to know!

This Sunday is Easter and this year my mom is letting me make the deviled eggs! This is one of the things on my "Me" list. They are my favorite thing about the holiday and I get to make them this year. (no pressure) Every time we have a family dinner she asks us what we want and I swear every time I say deviled eggs!

Water for Elephants comes out in FOUR days! I honestly don't know who I'm going to see it with or when but still I'm excited it will be out!

Hawaii. Need I say more.

My "me" list in general. I like that I made some goals to accomplish within a year! The good thing is if I get bored I can turn to the list and try and cross something off!

Nick's visit to Houston :)

Seeing my friends. Even if it's as low key as going to a bar for a couple of drinks. I have the best friends and I wouldn't replace them for anything! They made my weekend! Especially my Stacyface! Our dance party was epic :)

me and my peapod!

Going to Dallas, Austin, & San Marcos!

Coming home to Lucy! Girl goes crazy when I get home and I love it :)

"Good morning" texts-it's so simple but it makes me smile when I get them :)

The anticipation, excitement, the I-can't-wait-till-this feeling is good for you. I can't speak for everyone but it helps keep me positive sometimes. When you have a bad day or you're just in a funk, I like knowing that there's something that will make me happy or I know it's going to be a great day right around the corner. I try not to take for granted the little things that make me happy because at the end of the day sometimes all you need is that little thing to make things better. Take the time to appreciate all things that make you happy, big or small because you could lose it/them at anytime. (wow, didn't mean to get all serious, sorry peoples)

Anyhooo....What are you currently looking forward to?? OR what are some of the things that make you happy (big or small)???

10 blog ideas

I had writer's block today so I asked for some blog ideas and this is what I got (thanks Nick!)

  • storms at night: LOVE them, they make sleeping so much better!

  • black-out curtains: i recommend them

  • pub crawls: never been on one, feel bad for me

  • flashing lights outside your window: if you had black-out curtains it wouldn't be an issue :)

  • bad tippers: after working in the service industry for almost four years i loatheeee bad tippers! FYI it's usually not the waiter/bartenders fault so don't take it out on them! not to mention they handle your food and drink not smart to mess with them!

  • bartenders who make crappy drinks: you're probably a bad customer if you're getting those (just kidding) yeah that sucks! you should probably just order beer or wine (they can't mess that up)

  • bartenders who make good drinks: TIP THEM!

  • being receptionist all day: i will probably answer my phone "bill young productions" for the rest of the weekend

  • weekend plans: (no they won't be as good as last weekend) i will be catching up with sugar land friends, probably wishing i was in dallas or austin

  • lame dinners: i'm only allowed three lame dinners for every 10 apparently, to remedy this, go out to eat or learn to cook (ramen doesn't count :) )

Hey you! What's your favorite movie??

Hey guys-
The medicine I'm on for my kidney infection (sexyy!) has me a little foggy this morning so the creative juices aren't flowing!

So I thought I would ask you guys a question! I know you're out there people!
So my question to you (&me) is What is your favorite movie?

My favorite movie is 'Breakfast at Tiffany's.' Audrey Hepburn is my favorite actress! I love how stubborn and naive she is in this movie. (i can relate, i can be a little stubborn sometimes) The whole time she's trying to convince everybody she's fine on her own even though she knows she isn't. I love everything about this movie! And don't get me started on the kiss-in-the-rain! And when she sings "Moonriver."

loves it!

i have this poster framed over my bed!

SOOOOO tell me; what's yours??

What I'm Loving Wednesdays

Happy Wednesday everyone :)

Today I'm loving:
My salad I made for lunch (wish I had taken a picture of it)
Spinach, chicken, portabella mushrooms, strawberries, walnuts and a little mozzerella cheese...I know... it tastes as good as it sounds!

I'm also loving:
the tutorial I'm doing at work on Final Cut Pro (editing software)! Trying to make myself more versatile at work AND I want to make awesome videos of Lucy being...well...Lucy :))

Showing the love for:
HAWAII! I will be there in less than two months!

overlooking Waimea Canyon-please excuse the ginormusss sunglasses

Much love for:
DVR-because my happy butt will be parked on the couch tonight watching my favorite shows

I'm really loving: Water for Elephants comes out April 22nd! Can't wait to see it! If you haven't read the book I really really really suggest you do!

Ok so even though I'm in a pretty good mood today there are a few things I am NOT loving on this Wednesday...

I don't love- that I had to make an emergency doctor's appt today and I found out that I have a kindey infection. Lovely. My back (more specifically the part of my back where my kidneys are) feels like someone's stabbing it.

ANDDDD I don't love: that one of my besties had to rush her son to the ER for croupe today! Kendra and Daniel you get much love from me :) hang in there!

HAVE A GREAT WEDNESDAYYYYY! (two more days till the weekend yay!)

Was that necessary?

One of the things I like to pride myself on is I'm a nice person. I hate confrontation and I usually try to avoid at all costs.
With that being said I also like to joke around and mess with my friends. And I do so in a fun manner. Never demeaning or condscending. And if something I said or did came off that way I would feel horrible!

So I don't understand when people (cough cough someone I work with) has to take it too far and be...well...a prick! It honestly takes a lot to make me really upset. And this guy did it. They claim to be a comedian or 'good' at jokes. Dude..check yourself before you wreck yourself because you aren't funny, you're just rude!

In short telling someone that what they do or who they are isn't important isn't necessary especially when nothing has been done or said to deserve a comment like that. If that makes you feel better about yourself because you are able to put someone down and you can call it "joking" then you're not someone I want to associate with.

I'm still new at my job and I'm still learning how to do it and I'm working hard to be good at what I do and your comment (whether it was in a joking manner or not) was 'effed' up!

So congratulations dude-you pissed me off and not a lot of people (besides stupid drivers) can actually do that!

Dallas

I had a serious case of the Mondays  yesterday and completely forgot to post about my trip to Dallas..

The weekend was an overall success! I had a blast and a little too much vodka!

**I need to start by saying that I have incredibly (& very random)  bad luck sometimes
So like I said last week it was my first time to fly by myself. I got through security and got to the gate early and all I had to do was wait. Or so I thought.

I got a text from Southwest telling me my flight was delayed...for an hour and a half. Well crap.
I called my mom and she suggested I ask to get put on an earlier flight. I have absolutely no experience with this at all. I'm expecting this airline person to start laughing at this naive girl asking to switch flights. Surprisingly she said to go to the other gate (which happened to be on the complete opposite side of the airport) and asked to be put on stand-by. That worked, I was now on stand-by. Great. I had no idea what that meant. So I called my mom again and asked what I was suppose to do. She said they will literally do all the work for me. They'll call my name and then I will be on new flight. They called my name and I was now on the flight to Dallas!

Ok I understand I made a small problem seem a teensy bit dramatic but I had never done it before! And I don't really like flying so it was a little nerve-racking for me!

Anyhoooo back to the actual trip! We (me, my brother, my SIL and their friend Nick) had planned on going to this place called Top Golf (sort of like a driving range) once we got there, there was a three hour wait.
Eff
Obviously we left and it was my genius idea to go bowling! I really want to skip over bowling because I sucked it up! We played three games and I never broke 100! Everyone else did but me :( This is how my bowling game is, I either get gutter balls or strikes. WTF. I'm really good orrr really bad! The overall time was really fun! My dumb butt forgot to take pictures except for one of me and Heidi in the parking lot after we left.

I'm loving the wind in this picture!

Saturday morning I go with Russell and Heidi to their volleyball tournament they had. While they played I got a little sun! They won one out of the three games they played. But it was really fun!  I kinda wish I could have played with them. (I'm going to join a rec league soon! )

me and my bubs in the background

After volleyball we grabbed some lunch and chilled their apt for a little while. Heidi and I went shopping for something she could wear that night when we went out. We went and grabbed sushi for dinner. (I really wished I had taken pictures of what we got...I was a little spacey with my camera this weekend) We started the night at Havana's ( a cigar bar with VERY strong mojitos!)

Heidi and Russ at Havana's!

After Havana's we met up with Nick and some of his friends. I can not remember the names of the bars we went to! Like I said it was a strong mojito! Again I didn't take any pictures till we left the last bar. The night consisted of vodka/sprites ( a lot of them) and drunk dancing and crowded bars!

Me and Heidi leaving the last bar..I'm a little wastey face here

Night ended with some of us walking bare foot back to Nick's apt to keep "partying" or in my case drinking Brita and eating half a piece of pizza!

I woke up with the worst headache I've had in a longg time! Gatorade and advil was how I started my morning haha! We all went to brunch at Breadwinners (the best Brunch everrrrr!) and ate the greasiest food! It was glorious!

It tastes even better than it looks!

After that we watched the Hang Over (can NOT wait for the HangOver 2) and the Masters! (Sorry Rory!)
Then I packed and flew my very tired butt back to Houston!

It was a great weekend and I met some really cool people ;)

Mondays

Dear Mondays-
I really don't like you.
Nothing good happens on a Monday! (well....technically I was born on a Monday, but that's the exception to the rule AND when holidays fall on Monday but I digress)
I spend most Mondays trying to not fall asleep at my desk and drinking too much coffee! (remember caffeine and ashley's heart don't mix well sometimes)
You ruin Sundays. Sundays are meant for brunches and relaxing all day! As soon as Sunday evening rolls around I remember that the next day is going to SUCK!
After I long day of trying to not fall asleep at my desk, I have to go and get my ass kicked by my trainer :(
So every way you look at it, you suck Mondays!
If it was up to me, we would have a four day work week and ALWAYS have a three day weekend. If that was the case then I would like you Monday. But that won't happen anytime soon so you are still the worst!

Love Sincerely-
Ashley

yes we do!

happy friday and weekend everyone!

I'm leaving work in 30 to go to the airport to fly my happy butt to Dallas for the weekend!

Here are a few things I'm lovin today:

Kendra and me circa 2005!

  • I {always} love Trent Dabbs! He has taken over my playlists on my ipod :)

  • Lastly I love my mom {who isn't feeling that great} for taking me to the airport and I love my dad for watching my Lucy Belle while I'm in Dallas :)

To regret or not regret?

This weekend I asked one of my besties, Denise (bffs since 9th grade) if she would rather have regret or heartbreak? She then enlightened me that they tend to go hand-in-hand. Which I agree with to a certain extent. I then re-proposed my question with a little more detail and asked; would you rather have heartbreak knowing that you tried everything or regret because you didn't try. She very quickly and confidently said heartbreak, because I know that I tried everything.
I completely agree with her.
Playing the 'what if' game is disasterous.

Since high school I've always had the mantra of 'no regrets'. It started out with a class I had that was kicking my butt. And my sister offered me some advice. She said not to have any regrets when it came to preparing for this class. She said study your hardest that way when you get your grade you won't have any regrets for not trying your hardest. This advice stuck with me.

I find myself now it situations weighing my options because I don't want regret. There's a comfort in knowing that you tried everytihng. When I broke up with ex #1 I did it with no regret because I knew in my heart I had tried everything and it still wouldn't work. Sure there are times I look back on that relationship and have regret that I didn't end it sooner. But I know I did everything I could for that relationship and I feel good about that.

So my question to you (and your input is greatly received) would you rather have heartbreak or regret?

What are some of your stories about this?
